It all started back in 2014 when two BITS Pilani graduates, Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy decided they wanted to make life easier by changing the way India eats - all with just a tap! With their idea of ’hyperlocal food delivery’, all they needed was the tech to power it and were introduced to Rahul Jaimini, who brought this vision to life with the first website. And with this, Swiggy was launched as a food ordering & delivery platform.
In August of 2014, Swiggy began operations by signing up a few restaurants in Koramangala, Bengaluru. Soon enough, the first team of Hunger Saviors came into action to deliver food within 40 minutes. Shortly after, Swiggy raised its first round of funding and launched the app in May of 2015. Fun fact: The technology that delivers great food right to your doorstep was completely developed in-house!
With love and support from consumers, Swiggy expanded far and wide, first through the entire city of Bengaluru and then across the entire country. As they say, the rest is history.

We will collect and process the following information about you:
Information you give us -
This includes information submitted when you:
Create or update your Swiggy account, which may include your name, email, phone number, login name and password, address, payment or banking information, date of birth and profile picture. If you sign in to the Swiggy Platform through third-party sign-in services such as Facebook, Google Plus or Gmail, or any other social networking or similar site (collectively, “SNS”), an option of which may be provided to you by Swiggy at its sole discretion, you will be allowing us to pass through and receive from the SNS your log-in information and other user data; or
Provide content to us, which may include reviews, ordering details and history, favorite vendors, special merchant requests, the contact information of people you refer to us, and other information you provide on the Swiggy Platform (“Your Content”).
Use our Services, we may collect and store information about you to process your requests and automatically complete forms for future transactions, including (but not limited to) your phone number, address, email, billing information, and credit or payment card information.
Correspond with Swiggy for customer support;
Participate in the interactive services offered by the Swiggy Platform such as discussion boards, competitions, promotions or surveys, other social media functions or make payments, etc., or
Enable features that require Swiggy's access to your address book or calendar;
Report problems for troubleshooting.
If you sign up to use our Services as a merchant or a delivery partner, we may collect location details, copies of government identification documents and other details (KYC), call, and SMS details.
Information we collect about you -
With regard to each of your visits to the Swiggy Platform, we will automatically collect and analyze the following demographic and other information:
When you communicate with us (via email, phone, through the Swiggy Platform, or otherwise), we may maintain a record of your communication;
Location information: Depending on the Services that you use, and your app settings or device permissions, we may collect your real-time information or approximate location information as determined through data such as GPS, IP address;
Transaction Information: We collect transaction details related to your use of our Services, and information about your activity on the Services, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL), the type of services you requested or provided, comments, domain names, search results selected, number of clicks, information and pages viewed and searched for, the order of those pages, length of your visit to our Services, the date and time you used the Services, amount charged, details regarding the application of promotional code, methods used to browse away from the page and any phone number used to call our customer service number and other related transaction details;
Device Information: We may collect information about the devices you use to access our Services, including the hardware models, operating systems and versions, software, file names, and versions, preferred languages, unique device identifiers, advertising identifiers, serial numbers, device motion information, and mobile network information. Analytics companies may use mobile device IDs to track your usage of the Swiggy Platform;
Stored information and files: Swiggy mobile application (Swiggy app) may also access metadata and other information associated with other files stored on your mobile device. This may include, for example, photographs, audio and video clips, personal contacts, and address book information. If you permit the Swiggy app to access the address book on your device, we may collect names and contact information from your address book to facilitate social interactions through our services and for other purposes described in this Policy or at the time of consent or collection. If you permit the Swiggy app to access the calendar on your device, we collect calendar information such as event title and description, your response (Yes, No, Maybe), date and time, location, and a number of attendees.
If you are a partner restaurant, merchant, or delivery partner, we will, additionally, record your calls with us made from the device used to provide Services, related call details, SMS details location, and address details.
Information we receive from other sources -
We may receive information about you from third parties, such as other users, partners (including ad partners, analytics providers, search information providers), or our affiliated companies, or if you use any of the other websites/apps we operate or the other services we provide. Users of our Ad Services and other third-parties may share information with us such as the cookie ID, device ID, or demographic or interest data, and information about content viewed or actions taken on a third-party website, online services, or apps. For example, users of our Ad Services may also be able to share customer list information (e.g., email or phone number) with us to create customized audience segments for their ad campaigns.
If you are a partner restaurant, merchant, or delivery partner, we may, additionally, receive feedback and rating from other users.
REFUND AND CANCELLATIONS
As a general rule the Buyer shall not be entitled to cancel his/her Order once placed. If the Buyer cancels his/her Order, Swiggy shall have a right to collect the Buyer 100% of the Order amount as the cancellation fee, with a right to either not to refund the Order value in case the Buyer’s Order is prepaid or recover from the Buyer’s subsequent Order(s) in case Buyer’s Order is postpaid, to compensate the Merchants and PDPs.
Non-Customer Cancellation: Swiggy reserves the right to collect the Buyer cancellation fee for the Orders constrained to be canceled by Swiggy for reasons not attributable to Swiggy or Merchant, including but not limited to:
In the event, if the address provided by the Buyer is either wrong or falls outside the Swiggy’s delivery zone;
Failure to contact the Buyer by phone or email at the time of delivering the Order;
Failure to deliver the Buyer’s Order due to lack of information, direction, or authorization from the Buyer at the time of delivery; or
The Buyer’s failure to provide a valid OTP to the PDP for receiving delivery.
The Buyer may be entitled to a refund for prepaid Orders, post deduction of a cancellation fee if any for reasons mentioned above or in a manner as deemed fit by Swiggy in its sole discretion if a refund has been requested due to the following reasons:
If the Order could not be delivered within 2 hours;
- If the Merchant cancels the Order due to reasons not attributable to the Buyer, including but not limited to store being closed, non-availability of items, store not servicing online Orders, overcrowding at the store, etc.;
If Swiggy cancels the Order due to reasons not attributable to the Buyer, including but not limited to non-availability of PDPs, etc.
The Buyer may be entitled to a refund due to the aforesaid reasons up to 100% of the Order value depending upon the nature of the issue. Swiggy reserves the right to consider the cancellation and refund request and determine if such cancellation and refund request satisfy any of the aforesaid conditions, in which case Swiggy shall process the cancellation request and refund to the Buyer.
Important Note 1: The Buyer shall verify his/her Order and the products before providing OTP to the PDP and any issue with respect to the product or Buyer’s Order shall be notified immediately, and cancellation request shall be placed before providing OTP to the PDP. Once OTP is provided to the PDP, it shall be deemed that the Buyer has accepted delivery of his/her Order and once he/she has accepted delivery, the Buyer cannot cancel the Order and/or claim a refund.
Important Note 2: In case of the complaint of any spurious product, the liability shall solely lie with the Merchant selling the product. Swiggy is merely facilitating the transactions between the Merchant and the Buyer and therefore, Swiggy shall assume no liability with respect to the products sold by the Merchant. Swiggy strictly discourages dealing of any spurious product on its Platform and shall reserve the right to report such incidents to the concerned authorities for appropriate legal actions.

Can I edit my order?
Your order can be edited before it reaches the restaurant. You could contact the customer support team via chat or call to do so. Once an order is placed and the restaurant starts preparing your food, you may not edit its contents
I want to cancel my order
We will do our best to accommodate your request if the order is not placed at the restaurant (Customer service number: 080-67466729). Please note that we will have a right to charge a cancellation fee up to full order value to compensate our restaurant and delivery partners if your order has been confirmed.
